Training in Generative AI within Companies: Our Feedback

Training employees in AI has become a strategic imperative for companies. That’s the conclusion everyone, especially business leaders, is reaching. But how do you actually train employees in AI? What is essential and what can prove to be dangerous for the company?

Assessment after 1 year of training in generative AI

For the past year, we have been supporting professionals, regardless of their level of responsibility, in discovering generative AI.

We have identified six main observations:

➡️ Employees often have very different experiences and uses of AI. During our training sessions, we encountered professionals who had already embraced AI on a personal and/or professional level, while others had yet to test them. This situation can create a great sense of frustration within teams.

➡️ Employees are always looking for solutions to improve their efficiency and the quality of their work. All the professionals we met during our training sessions are seeking solutions to specific and recurring problems. By showing them the various possible uses of generative AI, they were able to envision how the tool could help them become more efficient.

➡️ Employees can quickly adopt new tools and imagine innovative applications. Using AI opens up new perspectives for employees, who will then be better able to propose innovative solutions based on AI. They are already imagining them during the workshop!

➡️ Many are confused by the workings of AI, the offerings, and their possibilities. Despite all the goodwill in the world, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate. “Which AI model is best suited for my job?”, “Are my personal data protected?”, “Can AI rely on the documents I provide, and is it dangerous for my organization?” Training is the perfect time to address all these questions.

➡️ It is not always necessary to spend a lot of time on AI training. Generally, one or two days may be sufficient. It all depends on your objectives. If you simply want your teams to get an overview of how AI works and envision their missions, a one-day workshop is ideal. If you want to find a single tool that can be safely used within your organization, it will require a bit more time for guidance.

➡️ Distrust of AI is often related to a lack of knowledge about it. We have found that once the training is completed, this distrust often disappears in favor of caution but above all, curiosity!

Through our various experiences in companies, our conclusion is quite clear: training in generative AI within companies is highly beneficial and stimulates employee creativity.
